Gents in Hong Kong can begin their spring/summer 2018 season with bespoke Italian flair, thanks to Giorgio Armani’s visiting tailors from Italy. They are in town for three days of made-to-measure suit-making that takes place in two of its stores this month.
Giorgio Armani’s made-to-measure suits bring the chance to indulge in premium-quality custom craftsmanship. Born from the luxury label’s desire to bring something personal into the global ready-to-wear arena, Giorgio Armani himself says, “I realised that I have clients who really do want a unique product, made specifically for them. Hence I decided to create a made-to-measure service, where a customer gets all the benefits of a tailor-made garment – unique fit, fabric, lining, buttons, details – as well as the signature Giorgio Armani look. This collection really does bring the traditional and the modern together, combining the origins of the tailor’s craft with the innovations of a contemporary design studio.”
At the Central store at Chater House (April 13 and 14) and the Tsim Sha Tsui store on Canton Road (April 15), the customer will be guided by staff to select the look and feel of fabrics, silhouette and details. There are plenty of details to consider: pocket positions, lapel type, lining, buttons, pleated or non-pleated trousers and fastenings.
Generally, a second visit from the customer allows for a perfect garment fitting and other final adjustments. The man with a typically busy schedule will be glad to know that if there is no time to return for a fitting or collection of a suit following the initial consultation, delivery can be arranged to his home or office.
This season, the Giorgio Armani Made-to-Measure collection is enhanced by made to order – a service that brings personalised details to a number of ready-to-wear Armani pieces.
