Is that butterfly on your wrist…moving?
If you’re referring to the Lady Arpels Papillon Automate by Van Cleef & Arpels then yes, it is. Featured on an intricate dial — decorated with mother-of-pearl, precious stones, as well as champlevé, plique-à-jour and paillonné enamelling techniques — is a butterfly automaton whose wings seem to flutter at random.
This mechanical marvel is among the many timepieces that will be on show at the French Maison’s travelling The Poetry of Time exhibition, which will be making a stop in Singapore from today to February 26. Besides a variety of the brand’s classic timepieces, the showcase will also debut five of the brand’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) novelties. An artisan from the manufacture will be present at the exhibition from February 18 to 22 for live enamelling demonstrations as well.
Looks like our weekend plans just got sorted.
The Poetry of Time is on show until February 26, from 11am to 9pm daily, at the Level 1 Atrium of ION Orchard
