Breguet’s Tradition collection recalls the genius of Abraham-Louis Breguet, who first invented one-hand pocket subscription watches in 1796.
These timekeepers were fitted with a movement of great simplicity and sold by subscription – a down payment of a quarter of the price on order, with the remainder paid on delivery. The latest Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 pays tribute to the subscription watch calibres by revealing the bridges, wheels, escapement, barrel and other movement components on top of the mainplate.
The 40mm boutique-exclusive piece showcases an 18k white gold case with fluted caseband, retrograde seconds hand at 10 o’clock and an engine-turned blue guilloché dial in gold offset at 12 o’clock.
It features advanced technology as its self-winding manufacture movement Cal. 505SR1 has an inverted in-line lever escapement with silicon pallets and a silicon Breguet overcoil balance sprint that guarantees exceptional precision. Also available is a new Tradition 7038 for ladies, adorned with iridescent Tahitian mother-of-pearl and an orange leather strap.
