Widely known as the King of Diamonds, famed jeweller Harry Winston had deep ties with New York. Born in the Big Apple in 1896, Winston’s father had set up shop selling jewellery at a store 50 blocks away from the future headquarters of Harry Winston namesake label.
New York City has been a constant source of inspiration for the jeweller and the Avenue collection is no exception. Named after one of the most famous shopping addresses in the world, the collection pays homage to the Art Deco period by seamlessly capturing the style and decorative elements from that era.
Every watch case in the collection features the emblematic arches, a style that mirrors the facade of the Fifth Avenue Harry Winston store. More importantly, all the watches highlight the “emerald shape” — the signature code of the brand. The octagonal shape can also be found at 12 o’clock, housing the brand’s logo or with an emerald-cut diamond, indicating that it’s an automatic timepiece. Some of the watches also have the octagonal shape reflected on the dial, as the central chapter ring.
And what’s a Harry Winston creation without diamonds and precious gemstones? The women’s watches in this collection continue the design ethos of Mr Winston, where the stones are decorated in different cuts, combinations and settings. The mother-of-pearl also takes centre stage in various models, bringing a special touch with the iridescent glow that reflects different tones, depending on the light.
