Trust rebel watchmaker Roger Dubuis to break codes and conventions yet again to create another exceptional Haute Horlogerie piece. The skeleton double flying tourbillon RD01SQ – a true signature of the manufacture – sees its latest interpretation of its iconic movement in the all-new Excalibur Twofold. The visually stunning, non-conformist timekeeper is the product of three world premieres.
First, the incredible horological 45mm timepiece’s glacial touch is enhanced by the bezel and the case created in Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), an ultra-white composite material made of 99.5 percent silica specifically developed by the manufacture. The cutting-edge Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) process mastered by Roger Dubuis engineers allows the maison to play with the unique, avant garde material.
For the first time, the patented process lights up every angle of the upper plate of the movement composed of MCF. Luminescent at night, it also lasts 60 percent longer than the standard issue luminescent material commonly used.
Last, but certainly not the least, the Twofold strap is made from a specific FKM rubber and is also luminescent, based on a world-first technology, LumiSuperBiwiNova, which makes part of the strap luminescent glow-in-the-dark like a nocturnal signature.
Bearing the Poinçon de Genève, the Excalibur Twofold is a limited edition of eight pieces, an unparalleled proof of excessive rarity.
