Picture the regal elegance of Raffles Hotel replete with inimitable butler service, this time with swaying palm trees and pristine shores on your doorstep. Over 135 years since the national monument opened its doors, a second outpost is set to be born — this time in Sentosa. Slated for a 2022 opening, the Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa is an all-villa property, located on a lush landscape with panoramic views of the South China Sea.
The villas are sumptuous sanctuaries ranging from 260sqm one-bedroom to 450sqm four-bedroom villas, with en-suite private pools and terrace areas to bliss out in privacy. Like the original property, the resort is a destination in itself with the revered Raffles Spa, a bar, restaurants, and a fitness centre. Crucial to the Raffles experience is the butler service, known world-over for its discretion, warmth, and grace.
Unbeknownst to many, Raffles Hotel’s concept was first conceived as a waterfront property. Peter Wilding, Managing Director of Royal Group, said in a statement: “Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa Singapore will return the brand to the beach and create a modern resort experience that captures the balance of tradition and modernity in a serene and idyllic setting.” Royal Group, who also own SO Sofitel Singapore and Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, will build the new Raffles.
Designed by international design firm Yabu Pushelberg, the resort is both a tribute to the colonial era property and contemporary Singapore. Upon entry at the arrival building, you’ll be greeted by a facade reminiscent of Raffles Hotel on Beach Road. Step into the salon for tea and cocktails; it’s called the Writers Bar like the original institution and is an homage to the numerous famous authors that took residence in the hotel over the years. The hotel will demonstrate a flair for elegant theatrics with its swimming pool with a waterfall, the hidden hillside Three Meal Restaurant, and the speciality restaurant that’s only accessible via rooftop and looks out to treetops with hanging lanterns.
The announcement comes after recent openings of other Raffles properties around the world, including Raffles Maldives Meradhoo and Raffles Shenzhen China.
