We’ve reached the end of the window-fogging Fifty Shades franchise. Final-freaking-ly. Fifty Shades Freed is hopefully the last the world would have to see of a drab Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and the fairly decent Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele on the big screen, screaming. But for all the critics saying the movie’s “a total disaster” and “a plot-less excuse for showing steamy scenes”, the titillating finale has provided the final push in making the trilogy a billion-dollar box-office success. So, hoping to capitalise on the pseudo-erotic frenzy featuring a domineering billionaire, Phuket’s luxury resort The Slate is offering a — ahem — package for time-starved couples.
The three-day, two-night promotion (cleverly called ‘Fifty Shades of Slate‘) may not be as smut as the literary whiplash, but it still ties in some pretty steamy stuff. Think candlelit flower baths and in-room massages; plus a ‘night kit’, which includes a chocolate cream scrub. Choose to stay in the resort’s Pearl Shell Suite, Private Pool Villa, Pool Suite, Pearl Bed Suite or D-Buk Suite. A bottle of champagne awaits in your suite too after you’ve checked in.
When you do decide to leave the privacy and comfort of your cocoon, be sure to utilise the private archery class for two. We’re not sure if the instructors will be shirtless as pictured but here’s hoping that sparks will fly anyway, as you and your beau have a go at shooting Cupid’s arrow.

And since you’ll be in Phuket’s north western shore, go for sunset strolls on the secluded white-sand beach, which fronts The Slate. By the time you complete the romantic trail, dinner will be ready for you at Black Ginger, an authentic Thai restaurant, or Rivet, the sophisticated Japanese restaurant, both located within The Slate.
