On 8 March 2020, we celebrate International Women’s Day, where we honour the achievements and sacrifices, and recognise the challenges faced by women everywhere. In between the gala dinners, networking lunches, and talks you have bookmarked on your calendar, squeeze a little time in to also celebrate the women you love, be it your mum, friends, or even yourself. Ahead, we list six places where you can drink and dine to your successes. Watch this space for more updates.
Brunch with a good cause at Monti this International Women’s Day — half of its proceeds will go to AWARE Singapore. The menu for the afternoon is the all-you-can eat Colapranzo, which offers a whopping variety of Italian dishes. Start with classics like the burratina and heirloom tomatoes before moving on to nonna-approved mains such as braised beef short rib served with a lemon and rosemary condiment or house-made wagyu ragout and ravioli stuffed with burrata cheese. Desserts are eternal crowd pleasers with a twist. Think vanilla panna cotta with yuzu strawberry.
Don’t skip the cocktails either as the tipples will be concocted by female guest bartenders, Christyne Lee, Head Bartender of Tess Bar & Kitchen, and Macarena Rotger, the lady boss of The Other Roof, who will take on back-to-back shifts. To turn your feast into a day of pampering, pop by The Nail Social’s booth.

Alternatively, book a dinner with your gal pals at The Chef’s Table. The home-style restaurant’s menu for the night features a complimentary cocktail and a starter of heirloom tomato tartare. The main course that follows is a steamed barramundi with flowers and herbs picked from Capella’s Garden. The night ends with a delectable dish of dark chocolate hazelnut crunch.
On Saturday 7 March, Koma, Tao Group’s Japanese restaurant and bar, is celebrating women with one-for-one cocktails at its bar and lounge. Food-wise, there’s plenty to keep your bellies happy, with options like the wagyu beef gyoza and charred octopus with a spicy Japanese chii aioli. Sufficiently buzzed and satiated, head to Marquee for free admission before 12 am.

The bold, big flavours of Thai cuisine, along with its complex nuances, are apt for a celebration of womenhood’s diversity and history. At Blue Jasmine, its Thai signature buffet comes with a promotion of Dine 4 Pay 3 — a worthy deal for a spread complete with all the restaurant’s signatures. Dig into the Tiger Cry Beef salad, and the hard boiled deep-fried egg salad with spicy minced chicken and a spicy lemongrass seabas, cooked with the chef’s special sweet and spicy chilli sauce. Load up your plate with the Khao Kluk Kapi, a fried rice dish that’s made with prawn paste, dried shrimp, red chilli padi, shredded green mango, long beans, Chinese chicken sausage and honey chicken, before you tuck into the elevated version of a traditional mango sticky rice.
