There’s no doubting the rich heritage of the internationally acclaimed Talisker distillery. So when the Scotland-based creator of some of the finest whiskies in the world announced the second release of its famed Talisker Bodega Series, we knew something special was in store. Presented in a limited edition of only 2,000 bottles, the Talisker 41-year-old, 1978 vintage, single malt scotch whisky is a beautiful amber-coloured creation, with a unique smooth flavouring that glides across the palate like fiery silk.
This notable character can be credited to the whisky’s expert finishing in Manzanilla Sherry casks. A total of six such containers were procured from the Marco de Jerez region in Spain, especially handpicked for their remarkable history — the more than a century-old casks were once used to store La Goya, Bodega’s flagship Manzanilla wine.
Infused by the essence of a bygone era, the Talisker 41-year-old has a distinctively full-bodied flavour that comes through in its sweet and salty aroma, marked by a mild fruitiness of sultanas, orange peel and sandalwood, with a hint of smoky raw sugar.
This sweet-saltiness spirit continues to express itself on the palate with an experience that begins with the sweetness of soft fudge, leans into a gentle saltiness that finally transforms into a chilli-pepper explosion that lingers with smooth warmth. So powerful yet deliciously pleasurable is the smoky heat of the flavour that it manages to seep through even when diluted with water.
The launch of the Talisker 41-year-old is accompanied by an especially curated luxury experience, the Talisker Isle of Skye, courtesy of Quintessentially Travel, a travel agency, renowned for creating customised travel itineraries. As part of this package, travellers enjoy a personal tour of the distillery, which is followed by an adventurous cruise along the shores of this beautiful island.
“The Quintessentially partnership, in honour of this exclusive Single Malt, means we are now not only able to share the rarest of liquids, but also unforgettable moments on the shores that shaped us,” said Ewan Gunn, Talisker Prestige Ambassador.
The Talisker 41-year old is available in Singapore from Diageo Rare & Exceptional; it is priced at SG$4,600 for a 70cl bottle, inclusive of duties and taxes.
