You’ve made it half-way through the work week — which means you’ve gathered enough tidbits to talk about with your girl friends. From what-she-said/what-he-said encounters to the daily challenges faced as the CEO of your own company, it’s high time to let off some steam.
Head straight from the subdued office to the sublime Origin Bar to experience a newly launched, weekly ladies’ evening special. Affectionately called ‘Gossip Night’, the affair happens every Wednesday from 6pm onwards and will feature an exclusive cocktail menu that revolves around a specific spirit per month.
July’s all about Cointreau-centric cocktails. Head Bartender Bystrik Uko is the curator and creator of this month’s cocktail menu revolving the multi-faceted intoxicant. Start off the night at Origins Bar with a unique spin on the classic margarita. The refreshing Clear Strawberry Margarita consists of strawberry tequila, Cointreau orange liqueur, citrus cordial and salted agave. The contrasts of flavours in this drink make for a delightfully well-balanced concoction and sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
There’s also the Citrus Glory, a cocktail made out of Cointreau orange liqueur, honey distillate, three citrus cordial and lemon for — as the name of the drink suggests — a tangy citrus punch. Complement the drinks and conversations being had with a range of mouth-watering bar bites available from Origins Bar’s mainstay menu. A personal favourite was the macaroni and cheese sandwich, the perfect accompaniment to the zesty notes of Citrus Glory.
For the more daring of friends in your group, the Dreamliner would be the perfect choice. A concoction of Cointreau orange liqueur, raspberry, kaffir lime shrub, lemon and soda, makes for a fizzy, flirty and too-easy-to-drink tipple, guaranteed to tantalise the taste buds.
Origin Bar may look all dark and dangerous at first glance but its cosy atmosphere and 1930s decor of arched walkways and intimate booth seats are the perfect setting for a sophisticated women’s night out. It’s doubly easy to unwind on Wednesday, as the strains of live music performed by highly sought-after, modern-day soul singer Nick Zavior will bring you to cloud nine.
Bar Manager and Slovakian native, Adam Bursik, divulges that next month’s concentrate of choice would be The Botanist so we suggest gin-loving ladies to plan a visit then.
