Inside Infinite Studios last week, over 500 industry insiders gathered for the unveiling of The Macallan’s latest addition to its iconic Edition series. According to brand ambassador Keith Nair, The Macallan Edition No. 4 “draws parallels with how The Macallan Distillery is constructed and showcases the lengths the brand goes to when creating single malt“. It was an exceptional launch — not only celebrating The Macallan’s rich heritage of masterful whisky-making, but also embodying its structurally impressive new distillery in Speyside.

The Macallan Edition No. 4 is cleverly crafted from a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks. Coloured a natural burnished copper, the single malt has an ABV of 48.4 percent, and brings together notes of rounded honey, sweet toffee and citrus fruits.
Drawing inspiration from this liquid gold, packaged in a goblin-green bottle, and the stellar craftsmanship of the new Macallan distillery, the launch saw an immersive space, where guests were greeted by lush plant walls and a neon installation inspired by the curves of the distillery’s architecture. At the heart of the room and captivating visitors, sat the building model of the distillery. Continuing the teaser, guests were treated to a panoramic film showcasing the precision behind the building’s ground-breaking architecture. Finally, the night culminated in a space which mimicked the timber roof structure of the distillery. Here, guests had their first sip of The Macallan Edition No. 4 and pampered their palates with whisky gums from an edible art installation by pastry chef Janice Wong.
