A fine whisky label such as The Macallan deserves a bottle to match, and the brand’s range of single malt whisky bottles now boast a fresh lick of paint to better represent the exceptional whiskies that they house.
Inspired by The Macallan Rare Cask packaging, the improved design features the brand’s unmistakable chevron etched across the bottle’s broad-shouldered frame where it tapers towards the neck. The refreshed presentation will be available in Singapore from June 2018.
But the bold update isn’t merely cosmetic: These new bottles boast anti-counterfeit technology and anti-refill enclosures, too. Those ensure that none of the bottles can be topped up, promising an authentic and unadulterated drinking experience every time.
Whether perched on a marbled countertop of a world-class bar or shared at your dinner table with a handful of friends, this handsome bottle brings more than a touch of class to any occasion it graces.
“With this bold new design, we want to do justice to the extraordinary whisky inside the bottle which, of course, is what we at The Macallan and every whisky fan worldwide really cares about,” says The Macallan Marketing Director Glen Gribbon.
Additionally, The Macallan Fine Oak range, launched in 2004, has been renamed The Macallan Triple Cask Matured, owing to its being matured in ex-bourbon casks as well as American and European sherry-seasoned casks. This brings the series’ name in line with its counterparts, the Sherry Oak Cask and the Double Cask. Together, the trio of 12 Years Old whiskies form the core of The Macallan’s flavour-focused portfolio.
A rich, fruity and full-bodied “new make” spirit, the Sherry Oak Cask 12 Years Old is transformed into a classic single malt when matured in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain. The result is a whisky of a rich, golden hue that’s characterised by the flavours of spices, wood and dried fruit, with hints of vanilla on the nose.
Matured in handpicked sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, the Double Cask 12 Years Old delivers a balance of a classic Macallan single malt imbued with the sweetness of American oak. The whisky brings forth flavours of raisins and caramel, along with a rich, intoxicating aroma of butterscotch that’s accentuated with hints of toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and newly felled oak, dressed in a glorious honey-toned hue.
The Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old exemplifies The Macallan’s expertise in and mastery of wood and spirit. The exquisite blend of spirits matured individually in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, sherry-seasoned American oak casks, and ex-bourbon American oak casks is a vibrant yet smooth single malt the colour of blonde straw. The nose begins with a complex aroma of vanilla and melon, followed by a palate of citrus, nutmeg and lightly toasted oak, and the finish is reminiscent of papaya and oak spice.
The trio’s names reflect the brand’s commitment to helping fans better select whiskies that suit their tastes. “What could be simpler than one, two, or three cask types?” says Gribbon. “By consolidating our core range to Sherry Oak Cask, Double Cask and Triple Cask Matured, we’re able to highlight the variety of whisky coming out of our distillery and also encourage new and existing fans to try The Macallan across a variety of occasions.”
