When Anantara Spa first announced its latest anti-pollution beauty treatment, Soin Oxygénant VIP O2, it was when Bangkok’s PM2.5 level started to drop. Little did we know that within mere months, this potent beauty ritual would once again become the only thing all the beauty addicts would ever need. With the PM2.5 values rising amid the grey and gloomy sky, there’s never a better time for Prestige to check out the effectiveness of the revered treatment.
Designed by renowned French skincare lab, Biologique Recherche, Soin Oxygénant VIP O2 combines step-by-step beauty ritual with product line formulated especially for people living in polluted city with ground-breaking Oxygenating Complex: the VIP O2. We’re not quite sure if we should be proud, but the Anantara Spa at the brand’s Thai flagship hotel in Bangkok is the first spa in the world to offer this treatment.
COMPREHENSIVE SKIN ANALYSIS
It takes 90 minutes to complete the Soin Oxygénant VIP O2 treatment — a relatively long procedure for a facial, I first thought. But the truth is, a hefty portion of time is dedicated to facial skin analysis — the most detailed I have ever experienced, to be precise, in order to customise products for each treatment step to ensure the whole ritual tackles all your specific skin problems, and delivers what your skin really needs. Skin moisture level is analyzed by area (forehead, left cheek, right cheek and chin), as well as sebum production to determine the right product to use. One particular analysis related to this treatment includes skin barrier, which determine the capacity your skin can fight pollution.
In terms of procedure, the treatment doesn’t deviate much from cleansing, treating with mask and moisturising. What differs, I believe, is that each product is customised to your skin type and concern that I am confident it’s not likely anyone else will have similar product combination as I had.Starting of with gentle cleansing with Lait VIP O2, a milky makeup remover massaged onto your face with gentle movement to not just clean, but also relax the skin which has been stressed by pollution and environmental damage. The Oxygenating Complex, coupled with super-gentle pinching massage, work the formula into your skin and stimulate cellular activity prior to treatment. If your skin, like mine, isn’t too sensitive and has relatively strong skin barrier, the cleansing will be followed by chemical exfoliation — a somewhat indispensable for any anti-pollution treatment for which ridding your skin of dead skin cells to reveal new and stronger skin is essential. I can’t say it doesn’t come without tingling effect, even for someone who use chemical exfoliants on a daily basis like me. But it’s not intolerable.
For this Soin Oxygénant VIP O2 treatment, this process features newly-launched star product: Booster VIP O2. Designed for only professional use with various kneading and rolling massage technique, the product boasts Chlorella Sorokiniana microalgae — an ingredient that will stimulate the epidermis to re-oxygenate the cutaneous tissue.
Following the initial process is the real treat with Masque VIP O2 — an outstanding anti-fatigue and anti-pollution mask that detoxifies the skin by eliminating particulate pollutants and restoring natural brightness. The mask neutralises pollutants to prevent them from reaching the skin cells and reduces the accumulation of oxidized proteins. Used on urban skin, it moisturizes and soothes skin types damaged by pollution. To make sure the treatment works its way into your skin, please relax and leave all your worries behind so the skin can absorb the nutrients more effectively. The final step is to moisturise with Crème VIP O2 — anti-pollution and anti-dullness cream that leaves skin with a healthy glow.
