Plein Air, the fourth chapter of Hermès Beauty is here, marking the house’s official entry into complexion and face makeup products.
Plein Air, meaning outdoors in French, signifies the collection’s natural approach to skin. Instead of concealing flaws, it embraces the skin’s natural texture and traits through invigorating, breathable formulations. Where its existing face makeup of Rose Hermès Silky Blush Powder and Poudre d’Orfèvre offer colour and glow, the Plein Air lays the foundation with a complexion balm, two finishing powders as well as accessories of elevated blotting papers and a powder brush.

The Complexion Balm
The Complexion Balm is a tinted skin cream formulated with nourishing ingredients. A hyaluronic acid complex maintains skin’s moisture levels all day, while evening primrose oil and Baikal skullcap plant (an ingredient commonly used in Chinese medicine) function as a shield against urban pollution and environmental aggressors.
The texture – designed to feel as soft as second-skin – quickly melts over skin, blurring pores and flaws. Dot over your facial contours, before using your fingers to smoothen it over skin. Dispense a little more for areas with redness and blemishes, gently tapping the product in to lightly conceal. The coverage is buildable; a single layer casts a radiant veil while additional ones offer a more flawless visage.
Available in 12 shades, it provides SPF 30+++ protection and boasts Plein Air’s original fragrance of regenerative arnica with sandalwood and green tea.
The Radiant Matte Powder
For those with oilier complexions, a dusting of the translucent Radiant Matte Powder removes shine without eliminating skin’s natural glow. The secret lies in white mulberry extract, and other emollient ingredients that prevent makeup from caking or the complexion from dying out.
Brush it over the face at the start of the day or re-apply for touch ups.
The Radiant Glow Powder
Just like the matte version, the Radiant Glow Powder contains similar ingredients. The difference is that this one sets your makeup with a luminous finish. Its subtle pink glow also doubles as a highlighter for the highest points of your face. Apply with a brush or with your fingers as desired.
The Blotting Papers
This is not your run-of-the-mill blotting paper. The Hermès interpretation is created from hemp fibres, wood pulp and soft kozo fibres derived from the paper mulberry tree. Pat over areas with excessive shine, as the paper absorbs the sebum without adding powder. It is also designed to cover larger areas, like the forehead, in a single sheet.
Presented in the maison’s signature small orange box, each paper is adorned with tiny H motifs.
The Powder Brush
Completing the collection is the Powder Brush. The lacquered wooden handle is designed in three colours and has been hand-assembled by a French brush maker. Ultra-soft natural goat hair fibres are presented in a round shape to lift the perfect amount from the Radiant Matte Powder, depositing on to skin in a gentle gesture.
