This Finnish design house, founded in 1951 by a visionary woman Armi Ratia, is celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. With a unique point of view, the label has been embraced all over the world for its simple, happy prints that have stood the test of time.
Some recent emblematic fashion collaborations that come to mind are with Converse (2011), Banana Republic (2014), Target (2016), Uniqlo (2018) with a 9-item collection due to launch on March 30th, and of course, who can miss Junya Watanabe (2018) current women’s collection that uses the iconic prints (available at Club 21).
Beauty is not far away, as this month, Clinique launches a limited-edition capsule collection of 10 shades of Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer, 10 shades of Clinique Pop Splash Lip Gloss + Hydration and 7 Clinique Empty Cushion Compacts that can be filled with the Cushion Compact Refills. 10 of Marimekko’s archival prints that date back to the 60s are chosen for this collection. According to Paivi Paltola, Marimekko Chief Marketing Officer, “Annika Rimala’s prints are among the most recognisable Marimekko designs and they capture the craftsmanship behind Marimekko’s art of print making: utilising overlays of colour and surprising colour combinations to create impactful designers”.
Melissa Knapp, Clinique’s Senior VP, Global Creative, adds, “Clinique (Evelyn Lauder created the brand name and developed its line of products) and Marimekko share a positive philosophy and a heritage of thinking differently. Both brands were founded by pioneering women who dreamed up products that encouraged others to be bold, embrace uniqueness and think on the bright side.
