August was a pretty big month for us at Prestige, as our 300 High Flyers 2019 Event took place on the eve of August 29. The exclusive, invitation-only cocktail gala saw some of Thailand’s most distinguished society faces gathered at the Rosewood Bangkok Hotel under the theme of ‘One Night in Shanghai’, in celebration of our newly-launched 300 High Flyers 2019 list. In case you missed or miss it, we take a look back at the best moments from the night, like when Ploy Bhinsaeng took over the turntables and brought Bangkok’s party to us.
When Lamborghini made an entrance, literally
Rising before the Rosewood Bangkok’s lobby entrance was a stunning Lamborghini Huracán Evo — in teal blue. Sleek, shiny, and giving off that irresistible “dream-car” vibe, it’s no wonder guests felt the need to stop for a quick peek inside, and a pre-backdrop snap. The fact that the colour matched our theme — ‘One Night in Shanghai’, with a palette of bold reds and classy teal — was an added bonus.
When we sat on Bangkok’s most comfortable sofa
Courtesy of sponsor Alexander & James Thailand, who are known for luxurious vintage-style sofas that give you a blissful sense of comfort not easy to come by.
By far one of the most popular booths at our event was Miskawaan Health Group’s palm-reading booth. With a station dedicated to health readings and another for one-on-one sessions with — you guessed it — a specialised fortune teller, it wasn’t surprising to see the area constantly buzzing with queueing guests.
The red carpet arrivals
With a theme as extravagant and out-of-the-box as ‘One Night in Shanghai’, our society friends naturally brought with them uninhibited glamour and all-out fun — to be expected, really, considering that Thai high-society is reputed for knowing how to have a good time. A flurry of dazzling hues, bold prints and accessories that scream so-called ‘Shanghai-chic’, our arrivals backdrop was like a runway in itself. See more of our favourite looks here.
Few things make a good party like great drinks, and we were lucky to have some of the very best. With exciting cocktails from Italasia, bottomless bubbly from G.H. Mumm and S. Pellegrino sparkling water — served in their limited edition 120th anniversary diamond-shaped bottle, no less — our guests enjoyed a hearty evening of mingling and uplifting spirits.
The Chinese carriage
If you thought the sofa was impressive, get this — for their booth, Silver Voyage brought with them a life-sized, traditional Chinese shoulder carriage. If this isn’t the perfect ‘One Night in Shanghai’ photo-opp, we honestly don’t know what is.
… and the Chinese fan-making
At a party themed around old Shanghai glamour, we definitely spotted several guests sporting Chinese fans in the crowd. Those who arrived fan-free, but decided they too wanted to partake, even got the chance to have their names calligraphed onto beautiful red paper fans at the Hublot booth.
When we toasted the 300 High Flyers 2019
A reminder of what this party was really truly about — celebrating Thailand’s new generation of trailblazers, innovators, and game-changers paving the way to an exciting new future.
When “P’Too” took to the stage
Because even Thai high society are not above smiling at the princely charms of Popetorn Soonthornyanakij.
When Ploy Bhinsaeng took over the turntables
Known for being the co-founder of Tribe, and the president of the Thailand Polo Association, intimate friends of Ploy Bhinsaeng will know that she is also a talent behind the turntables. A major thank you for the incredible vibes, Ploy!
… and when everyone joined in the fun
Not only does high-society know how to dress, but they definitely know how to throw a party. Making the most of the Rosewood Bangkok’s ballroom, our A-list guests were seen sashaying to-and-fro, unfazed by voluptuous gowns, to the vibing DJ beats.
