On your mark, get set, go for it. This week, take respite from the heat as you take on Gastro Sentral’s Brain Freeze challenge and crown yourself the ABC champion. Two art exhibitions are happening now, one in conjunction with Le French Festival 2019 and the other to encourage teens to explore different mediums of art. Waiting for inspiration to hit? You might find it at Worq where TED 2019 will be live streamed.
One word: ABC. Do you love this perennial Malaysian dessert enough to eat 3.5kg of it? The bowl of mountain-high shaved ice is smothered with jelly, evaporated milk, syrup, ice-cream, red beans and more. Gobble it down before the 30 minute mark is up and the win is yours. If you’re looking for a sugar rush but not a challenge, you can savour the dessert for MYR100 at your own pace.
Le French Festival 2019 continues with an art exhibition presented by the Embassy of France in Malaysia and Alliance Française. Brave New World is a solo show by French visual artist Argadol, who’s known for a style full of flashy and bold colours. It will certainly be interesting to see how the artist translates global challenges we face today into 20 pieces of pop and urban art. The exhibition takes place from Tuesday to Saturday from 9am-6pm.
The Young Art Entreprenuers! Programme is proud to roll out a one-day event that aims to empower the youth through art. The day is a mix of workshops, talks and performances catered specially for young adults, which is why each subject relates to the generation such as video production, graffiti, tote bag painting and shoe tie-dye. Think this age has so much more for you to explore artistically? Teen or not, everyone is welcome.
Head’s up – this is not a live TED Talk, but it is the second best thing. Coming to you live from TED2019 in Vancouver, TEDxBangsar will be streaming the talk in the presence of its Malaysian community. Join in and feel inspired by the talented speakers in this year’s lineup including Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter), America Ferrera (actress of Ugly Betty fame), Elizabeth Dunn (Happiness Researcher), Jon M. Chu (director of Crazy Rich Asians), and more.
