Held from December 10-12 at the award-winning Kata Rocks, the by-invitation-only Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR) focuses on the social side of the yachting industry, linking like-minded people from a personally curated guest list for three days of fun and networking in a relaxed social environment while signalling the start of Phuket’s luxurious charter season in style.
The KRSR is open to sailing and motor yachts measuring over 24 metres in length that are visiting or based in Phuket – Southeast Asia’s leading luxury location and superyacht hot spot.
Over three activity-filled days, superyacht owners will have a prime opportunity to present their flagship vessels on a grand stage.
“Kata Rocks is often referred to as ‘the world’s first superyacht-inspired resort’,” said Richard Pope, CEO of Kata Rocks and Infinite Luxury, developer of the resort and sponsor of this prestigious event.
“The KRSR will continue to extend this close connection with the yachting industry.”
Michael Nurbatlian, marketing director of Infinite Luxury, agreed that the event offered a different level of opportunity, a new type of exclusivity for owners and charter brokers to showcase their yachts for leading luxury, lifestyle and yachting media.
“The KRSR transcends traditional event definitions,” he said. “Our guests will enjoy a truly first-class program.”
Among the many expected highlights will be a welcome reception convened on a superyacht, as well as a cruise with the fleet to a secluded beach for a gourmet barbecue held at The Surin resort. But that’s not all.
Enjoy ‘Gins of the World’ sunset cocktails, revel in a yacht hop and ‘big boy’s toys on the water’ showcase and cap it all off with the exclusive owner’s dinner in Kata Rocks’ stunning Sky Villa Penthouse, as well as a grand finale that concludes the KRSR while ushering in the season ahead: the Kata Rocks Charter Season Opening Party.
Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards, a superyacht brand that dates back to 1849, will host the owner’s dinner on December 11, bringing history, class and the brand’s so-called ‘relentless pursuit of perfection’ to the event.
Other participating partners include Burgess, Benetti, Northrop & Johnson, Edmiston, Princess Yachts Southeast Asia, Bristol Charter, Simpson Marine,PMYA Asia Yachting, Seal Superyachts, Yacht Solutions, Hemisphere Crew Solutions Monaco, 77 Design, Zeelander, Burma Sport Fishing and The Surin.
According to Josh Lee, founder and managing director of Phuket-based Lee Marine – one of Thailand’s leading luxury yachting companies – the KRSR is the right event at the right time.
“Thailand’s current and upcoming superyacht market has so much growth potential and KRSR certainly pushes that point home,” he said.
The KRSR is part of a series of coordinated yachting events, starting with the annual Phuket King’s Cup Regatta from December 3-10. This year, the King’s Cup is followed by the inaugural KRSR and culminates with the Thailand Yacht Show.
