As the month of January approaches its end, we’re still here to remind you that it’s still a new year, even newer with Chinese New Year. In the hopes of inspiring you to stay fresh and fabulous, and to continue focusing on your resolutions and dreams, we spoke to actress, celebrity and fashion designer Janesuda Parnto of how she intends to carry out her 2020 vision.
Amidst being a devoted mother of two darling sons and dedicating herself full-time to running her eponymous clothing line, the high-flying and driven lady talks to us about her passion for fashion, what she’s got lined up this year and last but not least, a beauty tip that will make your pores shrink big time!
On New Year’s Resolutions, do you have one for 2020?
I think I’ve always had the same one every year! To become an early bird and wake up around 5:30am every morning before the kids wake up to do some exercise! But I never seem to follow through as I get so tired during the day. So far this year I haven’t been getting up at the crack of dawn, but I’m hoping to start next month!
What are you looking forward to doing most this year?
- Well, definitely spending more time with my two sons, Quinn and Quest. That said, I have to manage my time better and be more organised. I’m back working full-time now running my fashion company amongst other things so finding time to spend with my kids is difficult, but I’m determined to make it work.
What are your hopes and aspirations for 2020, work-wise?
Work-wise… you know I’ve always been one to just do my best each day and take each day as it comes. Of course, I hope my fashion brand will become even more successful at the beginning of each year and that people will recognise it even more than they do now. But I just tend to focus all my energy on doing my best each day and I guess the results will just speak for themselves.
What got you into fashion?
I always wanted to work in fashion since around the age of 19; I always loved beautiful garments. I started producing my own T-shirts and sourcing my own fabrics for clothes because at that time I couldn’t afford to buy the items I liked from international brands. I just thought, why not do it myself? Back in those days, it was pretty tough to get your brand recognised. Social media completely changed that.
But I’m not your traditional fashion designer as I never studied fashion. Everything came and comes from pure passion and it was something I just really couldn’t stop thinking about. Almost seven years ago, I realised the power of social media and finally decided to go for it and open my own fashion company. It just so happened that there was a small window of time between working on lakorns so I decided to go for it. It was perfect timing. I started posting photos of my products on social media and people really liked it, started commenting and responding and so my business took off.
To what do you credit your fashion company’s success?
A lot of hard work. And definitely social media!
Have you got anything exciting lined up this year for your brand?
This year we’re definitely going to be exploring the area of recycled fabrics. Right now, we’re in the process of experimenting with recycled fabrics and that takes time because it’s fairly new to the fashion world and Thailand. Depending on results and what we can do, there might be a recycled fabric collection in the works, which is so exciting.
What will you be focusing on most in 2020?
I think for me, at this point… I will be focusing on my health, so that I can live a longer life and see my sons grow up into strong men and have their own families. So I have to be healthy, which means exercising more and making a solid habit out of it. I’m not one for group exercises, I prefer working out on my own, like going to the gym, and of course doing yoga and Pilates. I also really like tennis so want to start playing that again more often.
What’s your skincare routine for 2020?
About six months ago, my mother passed on a bit of ancient beauty wisdom that I have found really works and I have been doing it religiously every day and will continue doing so this year. It’s not skincare routine as such… Every morning when I wake up, I put ice-cold water – like, freezing – on my face and not only doesn’t it make my skin feel super fresh, but it also wakes me up. I find it tightens my skin and reduces the size of my pores quite visibly. I can really see the difference – my skin has never looked so beautiful.
Are you planning any exciting trips this year?
This year, my husband and I are going to LA, just the two of us as we’ll be leaving the kids behind! We’re going for 2 weeks and it’ll be a much needed break.
