Southeast Asia University (SAU) is encouraging us to watch the “Planting Seedlings of Good Deeds“, a short film based on the work and success from the project The Volunteers from the Heart, that has encouraged Thai people to devote themselves to the society through various dimensions. The Volunteers from the Heart project is an initiative under His Majesty the King.
This short film is based on true events and has been created by SAU to commemorate His Majesty the King’s birthday on July 28, 2019.
The volunteer project has helped in developing Thai society in various dimensions including to support the King’s policy on helping his subjects to have a better living condition and to be able to selflessly take part in contributing for the betterness of the society and the country.
One of the volunteers from the heart projects is the medical specialist volunteer courts to commemorate His Majesty the King. This is held continuously every year and it rotates from provinces to provinces. This year, it was scheduled for Phetchaburi with more than 500 medical personnel and 2,000 volunteers along with special instruments, that are unavailable at the local medical centers, for screening and treating covering twenty-two medical areas. These services of physical exams, treatments, and operations were free of charge and there were more than 30,000 patients receiving benefits from the project.
Countless volunteers have contributed to the volunteer projects that involves cleaning the canals and developing public spaces nearby at Prem Prachakorn Canal, Bang Lamphu Canal, Lod Wat Rajabopit Canal, Bang Khen Canal, and more.
Moreover, building and repairing houses for people is just one of the ongoing volunteer projects. For example, in all of the four southern provinces, there is one that focuses on storm victims in Srisaket and Loei, another for underprivileged members of Bangkok communities and twenty-five provinces in central regions and Sa Kaeo Province.
The activities in these volunteer projects have helped to grow the seedlings of good deeds in the hearts of all Thai – men and women, young and old.
