Penhaligon’s, together with Prestige magazine, hosted 40 guests at its Raffles City boutique on Nov 21. The storied perfume house started when a Cornish barber — William Henry Penhaligon — moved to London and created his first perfume, Hammam Bouquet, in 1874. In the same year, he opened his own shop and began selling perfumes and other fragranced delights. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Penhaligon’s fragrances are still bottled in the original design.
Another highlight that evening was the interactive screen in the store. Guests were recommended four perfumes based on the information they keyed in the questionnaire. At the end of the evening, many of them left with bags of new candles, perfumes and special-edition miniature fragrances.
