Dr Nitsara Karoonuthaisiri
Dr Nitsara’s academic resumé is flawless, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (honours with distinctions, departmental valedictorian) from Columbia University, and an M.S. and PhD in the same field from Stanford University. She established a microarray lab, eventually winning a 2014 Research Award from the National Research Council of Thailand. Since then, the accolades have consistently rolled in, with awards from Unesco-L’Oreal Thailand, the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology and more.
As the founding co-chair of the Global Young Academy, and an advocate of science and research, she says, “Science and technology will help Thailand’s sustainability. You might be rich, but without technology you are not sustainable… We can unlock Thailand’s potential using science and technology.” 2014 saw her appointed to her director position at BIOTEC Thailand as well as the release of her book, Push the Limit.
