“Moo” Pungcharoenpong is responsible for introducing the majority of Thailand to the world of digital publishing. His passion for programming first led to IT Works, which deals in biometrics, but when he heard of the iPad’s pending release in Thailand, he foresaw a unique opportunity to create an e-book platform. Since then, he and his team have converted hundreds of print media into e-books, e-newspapers and e-magazines, with 900 titles overall (600 from Thailand). As a result, Ookbee is the nation’s largest e-bookstore with a marketshare of over 85 percent. And, with the inescapable shift from print material to digital platforms as an information source, the sky’s the limit for the future of Ookbee.
