Ommi Pipit-Suksun started her ballet training at Varaporn-Kanchana Ballet School in Bangkok. When the dedicated dancer turned 15, she received a prestigious Royal Ballet School scholarship to pursue her training in London. She became the youngest ballerina at the time to win a gold medal at the Adeline Genée International Competition in 2001. The sought-after dancer is the only Thai professional ballerina and ABT-certified teacher in the States. In 2013, Ommi was asked to become a principal at Ballet San José. In 2014, she performed the titular role in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, and was invited to perform in a Florida gala with New York City Ballet dancers in Fancy Free.
“I feel fortunate and thankful to be doing what I love and I am proud of my accomplishments in my ballet career. As the only Thai principal dancer working abroad, I hope that my humble success and story will be an inspiration and will motivate young aspiring dancers in Thailand to pursue their dreams and make them come true,” she told Prestige.
