You’ll find H Gallery tucked away inside a stunningly restored 125-year-old Anglo-Thai mansion in Silom. The historical monument alone is worth a visit in its own right.
Established by H. Ernest Lee, a renowned Asian art collector, to represent emerging contemporary Southeast Asian artists, the two-storey gallery is often regarded as a launching pad for Thai artists with international ambitions. On top of regular exhibitions, H gallery’s roster includes works from Sopheap Pich, Somboon Hormtienthong and Jakkai Siributr.
It also boasts a very large inventory of paintings, photographs and 500 sculptures in its storage room, all of which can be viewed on request. If provocative, sexy or controversial works are your cup of tea, make sure H Gallery is on your itinerary, as it’s definitely one of Bangkok’s more daring art spaces.
H Gallery works with Brian Curtin, an internationally renowned art critic and curator. Curtin assists the gallery in choosing artists.
