With its prime location on Sukhumvit 31, La Lanta Fine Art is integrated into a cluster of up-market shopping malls and restaurants.
The gallery offers contemporary paintings, sculptures, photography and fine art prints by both established and up-and-coming local and international artists. Here, art flourishes and lives up to the name La Lanta – a pun on the Thai word “beauty in abundance.”
Though beauty might be copious in this fairly large facility, it is not permanent, but perpetually renewed and reinvigorated. There is no static in-house exhibition. The gallery promotes the visibility of its represented artists, opting for a more dynamic show.
This means that instead of curating art collections, La Lanta curates gallery programmes – the sequence of showcases for individual artists and their exhibitions. The exhibited artists are normally derived from its Young Programme and affiliate programmes with art galleries across Asia, Europe and the US.
La Lanta is one of those galleries with everlasting appeal. There is always something new, not matter how many times you go. Definitely a must-see.
