The New Rose Hermès Celebrates pink in all of its shades

Tradition and innovation laced with characteristic savoir faire – these are the three pillars of the maison that Hermès reimagines through its 16th metier. Now, Hermès Beauty expands its universe with its latest chapter that follows the sublime Rouge Hermès lipsticks.

Available from April 15 at Hermès Liat Towers, Marina Bay Sands, Takashimaya and hermes.com, the Rose Hermès is a collection emblematic of one of the Maison’s signature colours. It takes inspiration from past narratives – displayed through exhibits in the private Emile Hermès Museum in Paris – that trace the colour’s significance throughout the house’s history.

Pink was the discreet interior lining of a sleeper carriage, the contrasts on jockey’s silks. Pink was the fusion of gentle and bold, the colour of French Empress Eugénie’s parasol whip and an extraordinary Art Deco table in shagreen marquetry.

But it was the 1961 Azalée woollen suit, which birthed the Hermès pink that later made its mark as a rich palette of hues on the silk scarves. In 2021, the colour takes centrestage again as the beating heart of Rose Hermès .

Jérôme Touron, Creative Director of Hermès Beauty, describes pink as “a palette of shades that sketches contours without fixing them, animating the face and giving it movement.” In the new collection, the Silky Blush in eight pink hues takes the spotlight as the key accentuation to the face.

A triumph of design and technique, the round disc of white and gold is finished in satin permabrass and marked with a gold indent engraved with the house’s ex-libris. Refillable with a removable pan, it comes complete with the house’s signature orange box.

Embossed in the same twill weave pattern of its silk scarves, the blush has a fine and velvety finish. Mineral powder delivers a soft matte effect and lightweight texture, with vitamin E as a key antioxidant in the formula. Its scent, conceived by in-house perfumer Christine Nagel, gives off notes of arnica, sandalwood and angelica.

The Silky Blush range spans the orange-pink of the Rose Abricot, the coral-tinged Rose Blush, to the Asia-exclusive of the Rose Poivré and the deeper Rose Tan. Apply in a circular motion on cheekbones, sweeping over the nose for a youthful sun-kissed appearance, or lift the face by sweeping the blush from cheekbones to the temples.

Its coverage is buildable. Flicks on the wrist, whether gentle or assertive, are all it takes to soften or accentuate the face. Sculpt your cheeks like a pro with the blush brush, that is hand-assembled with a lacquered wooden handle and brushed metal ferrule, and crowned with soft goat bristle fibres. A travel edition, for sheer touch ups, is finished in lacquer white and a ring of brushed gold. To bring your blush on the go, the Pommette blush case makes a chic accessory, made of calfskin leather with an adjustable shoulder strap.

Joining the house’s range of lipsticks are a trio of Rosy Lip Enhancers housed in golden tubes lacquered in matte pink. These coat lips with a delicate, waxy finish as a dual-tribute to the house’s smooth and buttery bags made of Butler calfskin and the warm, kneaded beeswax used by leather artisans to protect linen threads before saddle stitching.

The lip enhancers are available in three shades, ranging from the light and fresh pink to an amber-toned, sunny shade. Rounded and bevelled on the tip for easy application, these are formulated with raspberry seed oil and sesamin-based nutrients to nourish and repair lips. Mineral powders lend a blurring effect while its scent, again created by Nagel, instantly relaxes the wearer.
