In the film industry, there is no greater night than the Academy Awards. Actors and actresses pray for the prestigous honour of taking home an Oscar, while viewers look on with gripping anticipation. But as celebrity viewing parties go, there is no event more worthy than the Elton John Foundation’s Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party.
Hosted by Sir Elton John and David Furnish in West Hollywood Park, this star-studded event is the most highly visible and successful fundraising event of the night. Over the past 24 years, the foundation has raised more than US$50 million to help support people at risk for or living with HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean and to create innovative treatments and initiatives across the United States and Canada.
When the glitz and glamour of Hollywood is used to shine light on an incredibly important cause, it’s always a reason to celebrate, and this worthy cause was celebrated this year by the Italian jewellery house Bulgari.
In true Bulgari fashion, the house auctioned off an 18k white gold, full pavé diamond Divas’ Dream necklace that raised up to US$75,000 – demonstrating again and again that this is a brand that has more heart than people might realise. As the guests entered the party, they were also treated to a gallery of images and displays of Bulgari’s most iconic jewels, worn by celebrities and featured in various films throughout the decades.
