If you’ve been on social media at all these past two weeks, surely you would have come across our Prestige 300 High Flyers 2019 event — an exclusive cocktail gala held in tribute to Thailands’ new generation of rising stars. Following a theme of ‘One Night in Shanghai’, the evening saw old Shanghai’s mystique and allure collide with world class-entertainment, fine food, and bubbly. With such an extravagant dress code, our society friends went all out, proving that hi-sos do know how to have a good time in style.
On the evening of August 29, 2019, Rosewood Hotel’s ballroom was filled with vibrant colours of red and teal, accompanied by motifs reminiscent of another world — cue elegant Chinese umbrella decor, classic Chinese fans, and a beautiful rose blooming from the stage. Clearly taking the theme to heart, our guests came dressed to-the-nines, with many showing up in head-to-toe Shanghai chic. While everyone was absolutely stunning in their own right, here we round up some of the most memorable looks we loved.
Winning any and all hearts at the event, owner of TH Robotics ML Ploynapat Diskul Leenutaphong absolutely stole the scene and all of our attention with this stunning, shiny dress, accentuated by extravagant touches of fur. Also, how cute is that bag?
Reminding us that bold, edgy looks work just as well as the classic ones, Tiplada Chaowanapricha ditched the dress and went for this gorgeous tulle number, topped with a striking red blazer. With just enough tongue-in-cheek and sophistication to win us over, nothing screams ‘statement look’ than a touch of dare-to-be-you.
Another familiar face at Thailand’s most exclusive, A-list events, Naphaporn Bodiratnangkura also took the edgy, unconventional approach, showing up in gorgeous head-to-toe red. We love how the flowy v-neck top, and sleek pants emphasises her beautiful figure — definitely a favourite from the night!
Pretty much joined at the hip, style icons Sikanya “Pau” Saktidej Bhanubandh and Na-chanok “Golf” Ratanadaros arrived ready to — once again — steal the show. We especially love the sleek silhouette and Qipao-esque collar on Pau’s gown, while the print in Golf’s shirt is truly something to admire. Also, shoutout to the vibrant scarf — a nice touch of Shanghai!
A regular on best-dressed lists, Kornkanok Yongsakul gave us a taste of what we like to think of as modern glamour. Her stylish, no-nonsense black v-neck top was offset by some eye-catching geometric flair at the waist. Shoutout to the underlying subtle print — it’s all in the details, right?
As one can only expect from a society belle like Pavarisa Phenjati, we were blown away when she arrived in a beautifully printed sleeveless dress. Also, love the delicate touch of feathers at the helm — you can never go wrong at parties with an added bit of flair!
Speaking of feathers, here’s another look we loved — Nasha Jungkankul. We’re still lowkey ogling at how the sleeves blend into flowy, ruffled features, and the glittery sequins-embellished gown was a true eye-catcher.
Sporting his usual approach of sophisticated-meets-extravagant — note, subtle extravagance — was designer Shone Puipia. True to his style that somehow manages to be both completely reasonable and completely wild, he arrived in a classic blue blazer, under which we glimpsed a hint of his striking leopard-printed shirt beneath. So stylish, so Shone.
Though we really are not that surprised to see Mark Thawin P Seawtong’s name show up on this list, can we please take a moment to appreciate his jacket? The stylized cloud prints and that collar — definitely one to remember.
And finally, a special shoutout goes to our DJ for the night — the incredibly talented, and equally gorgeous Ploy Bhinsaeng. Taking her usual straightforward, but still boundary-breaking, approach to fashion, there is something about her robe-esque number that catches the eye. We are also especially fond of the bright embroidery — a fun, spunky contrast from the surrounding dark hues.
