The power of a successful brand often lies in its ability to instantly recall a certain image. The Chloé girl, for instance, has an independent yet feminine presence that announces its free-spirited originality with fashionable flair. And that’s precisely what is reflected in the French fashion house’s recently launched Fall 2019 collection. Designed by Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Chloé’s creative director, the ready-to-wear and accessories selection is marked by a breezy chicness that pushes the boundaries to just the right limits.
‘Playfully Parisian’ is a term that can be used quite aptly to describe this eclectic collection, as soft, elegant silhouettes blend effortlessly with contemporary touches that question established norms. These take the form of flowing dresses worn along with skirts and trousers; crinkled velvets paired with monogrammed silks and leather; and floral motifs that appear alongside the brand’s recognisable ‘femininities’ icons, as well as a new jacquard-based ‘C’ logo.
Ramsay-Levi’s affinity for unique pairings extends to her use of contrasting colours, too — deep shades of rust, fuschia, lavender, carnelian and persimmon make a statement when presented against the subtle hues of camel, blush, olive and denim blues.
Relaxed grace is what comes through in all the pieces, whether it’s a pair of high-wasted trousers with a broad flare, a military-style topcoat, long dresses with pointed handkerchief sleeves, boyish blazers, and even the iconic Chloé silk blouse that had been given a fresh look with the help of floral patterns, pleated military overlays, flyaway scarf collars and lace ruffles.
Accompanying these standout pieces is Chloé’s equally engaging Fall 2019 accessories collection that includes two new day handbags — the Chloé C and Tess, made of superior ombré glazed calfskin leather with camouflage lizard embossed marquetry. The classy Aby and Annie handbags, which are larger and more spacious in comparison, are made of soft deerskin and feature eye-catching gold-coloured hardware.
A sophisticated array of croc, snakeskin and calfskin leather footwear comprises ankle- and calf-length boots and loafers, both of which feature a distinctively curvy ‘wave’ heel. And a selective range of twisted bracelets, earrings and necklace made of baroque pearl and natural shell details complete the collection.
