GUCCI PIN MICKEY MOUSE — CELEBRATING CHINESE NEW YEAR
Embracing the spirit of Chinese New Year, ICONLUXE at ICONSIAM celebrates the auspicious occasion in an equally spectacular flair with the premiere of a pop-up store by the world’s most desirable fashion house: Gucci.
Named “Gucci Pin Mickey Mouse,” the exclusive pop-up at ICONSIAM is the first of its kind in Thailand. A brainchild of Gucci’s ingenious creative director Alessandro Michele, Gucci Pin brings an innovative touch to the pop-up concept with the exclusive unique “pin” marking the destination on Google Map.
A GLOBAL PHENOMENON AT ICONSIAM
Launched together with the pop-up store is none other than the highly-awaited Disney X Gucci Collection to celebrate the year of the Mouse. Featuring Disney’s all-time favourite leading man Mickey Mouse, its announcement generated a huge buzz and lengthy waiting list.
To showcase this exclusive collection, Gucci drops Gucci Pin pop-up stores around the world, each featuring products from the collection, albeit varying in sizes and selection. It’s a phenomenal collection launched in a way that can be counted as a global phenomenon.
INNOVATIVE, INTERACTIVE, ENGAGING — A RETAIL ATTRACTION UNLIKE ANY OTHER
Spanning across the area of 76sqm., Gucci Pin Mickey Mouse resonates with the vintage-yet-innovative spirit of the brand. Designed to be interactive and engaging, the pop-up store features a bespoke entertainment, Gucci Pin façade, which can be enjoyed on both the Gucci App and at ICONSIAM. Bringing to life the Mickey Mouse character, the feature lets customers and passers-by see themselves wearing the signature Mickey Mouse ears on the screen, conceived as an enchanted mirror.
THE COLLECTION — SOMETHING COLLECTIBLE, SOMETHING ICONIC
Since its first unveiling last year, the waiting list for the Disney X Gucci collection is as long as the Milky Way. With its vintage-loving and whimsical spirit, as evidenced in the brand’s ongoing love affairs with any unlikely motif from age-old movie studio logo to gaming company font and vintage shoujo manga, Gucci and Mickey Mouse is a match made in heaven.
Combining the house’s classic motifs with Mickey Mouse character, the result is a playful, slightly nostalgic but altogether charming collection: the Mini GG Supreme canvas with Mickey Mouse print, a beige and ebony fabric that features a vintage Mini GG pattern with Mickey Mouse playfully applied to it in varying scale. This print has been introduced in reference to a House fabric from the 1980s, and the original design, colour and look has been re-produced with high-definition digital printing. A protective coating and embossing give the appearance and texture of linen. A brown leather tag identifying the official collaboration with Disney is included in many of the pieces.
