Louis Vuitton is never a stranger to gaming. Following its first foray into gaming collaboration by tapping Lightning, lead heroine of Final Fantasy XIII and its subsequent sequels and spin-offs, to front the Spring-Summer 2016 campaign, the luxury French maison marries its love for sports and gaming collaboration in its latest partnership with Riot Games’ League of Legends (LOL). From a design of trophy case for League of Legends World Championship 2019, elevating the e-sport competition to the likes of FIFA World Cup and America’s Cup for which LV has presented the trophy case, to a design of Prestige ‘skin’ (character visual design and customisation) for LOL character Quiyana, Louis Vuitton is now launching a capsule collection of clothes and accessories to celebrate the Louis Vuitton X League of Legends collaboration.
Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director for Women’s collection, the collection combines elements borrowed from the League of Legends universe with Ghesquière’s personal inspirations. The highlight is a unique Monogram Louis Vuitton X League of Legends canvas, which is revisited across some of the maison‘s most iconic handbags: the Neverfull, the Speedy or the Boite Chapeau Souple and a Bumbag, to name but a few. Also present throughout the collection is a new Louis Vuitton signature inspired by emblematic League of Legends character Quiyana’s ring blade which was revealed in the Prestige Louis Vuitton skin earlier this year. This transversal capsule collection is completed by ready-to-wear composed of technical materials like scuba jersey, accessories, as well as iconic Louis Vuitton shoe styles such as the famous Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers, the Star trail boots and the most recent Beaubourg platform derby shoes.
