Oscars night is the most glamorous in Hollywood, and the biggest names in showbiz most definitely did not disappoint with their sartorial choices on Sunday. Marking the 92nd Academy Awards, Hollywood’s biggest event took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. With a red carpet brimming with A-list celebrities — cue names such as Gal Gadot, Timothee Chalamet and more — we naturally couldn’t resist taking a look at the star-studded event.
This year, among the trends that made it onto the carpet, soft pink was a pretty popular option, with multiple stars opting for the dreamy, feminine hue. As always, classic black was also a timeless, go-to choice, but what caught our eye in particular were the big statements — enter Natalie Portman 2011 best actress Oscar winner, who let her feelings about the lack of nominations for female filmmakers be known by having their names stitched into the black Dior cape she wore over her gown.
A red carpet favourite, Janelle Monáe wore a custom silver Ralph Lauren gown completed with a hood and backless detailing. Performer of the night, Billie Eilish stayed true to her own style and rocked a Chanel tweed two-piece look. Brie Larson isn’t up for any awards, her film Avengers: Endgame is nominated for Best Visual Effects, she wore a shimmering Celine gown and Bulgari jewels. Twenty-four year old Timothee Chalamet arrived on the red carpet in a midnight blue Prada nylon outfit and a Cartier Tradition brooch from 1955. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot looked stunning in a Givenchy Haute Couture pink silk organza skirt with lace pleated petal ruffles. She completed the look with Tiffany & Co jewellery and Stuart Weitzman shoes.
Sandra Ho who presented at the awards dazzled in an Elie Saab evening gown from the Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture Collection, Roger Vivier shoes, and Pomellato jewelry. Rooney Mara who accompanied her fiancee Joaquin Phoenix wore a lace gown by Alexander McQueen. Scroll through the gallery below for all of our favourite looks.
