It’s almost the Year of the Ox! Chinese New Year is just around the corner and with that comes an exciting array of new collections from fashion’s finest. As the world is still reeling from the uncertainties of the pandemic, the animal of the ox – the Chinese zodiac sign we are moving into – perhaps gives us something a bit more stable and strong to ground us for the year ahead. (We can only hope!). The stout and masculine animal has inspired many fashion designers this year – let’s take a look at what the world’s most admired fashion brands have come up with the year.

1. Saint Laurent
In order to celebrate the Chinese holiday, Saint Laurent has released a series of double horn, double ox and single horn and ox bracelets and necklaces that can perfectly match any style. Ox-lovers can also take it up a notch and purchase an an ox-decorated cardholder!

According to the Italian luxury fashion house, the ox exemplifies strength, determination and most importantly, ambition in life, all things Fendi can relate to. To celebrate Chinese New Year in 2021, Fendi style, the house has launched an exquisite and exclusive Capsule collection. The common theme in this collection of stunning bags is the colour red, combined with sophisticated pink hues and flowers that are synonymous with the Chinese tradition.
The collection is peppered with gorgeous chrysanthemum and peony designs that pair well with the Maison’s iconic FF logo. The collection exudes an air of elegance, romance and most importantly, success. Take a look!
3. Tory Burch
Tory Burch welcomes Chinese New Year with celebratory red and gold tones that can be seen from its Collection Resort 2021. In this auspicious collection you’ll find clothes, bags, shoes and accessories that sing praises to the signature and feminine Tory Burch look – a particular favourite that is very in theme with the New Year are the espadrilles (see picture below).

4. Miu Miu
To celebrate the spirit of Chinese New Year, Miu Miu looks to the themes of youth and athleticism. 5. KENZO
For Chinese New Year celebrations, KENZO has launched a capsule collection that swiftly honours the Year of the Ox. This capsule collection features a new graphic and ideogram of an ox, as well as an all-over ox print that is seen on a jersey and that is also woven into ready-to-wear pieces and accessories, such as hats, bags, sweats, shirts and more.
Three t-shirts, in black and lemon and featuring the “ox” graphic and ideogram, will also be available exclusively in China. The capsule will be available from February 2021 at Kenzo Central Embassy, Chidlom, Central World and Central Phuket Floresta. Take a look!
6. Gucci
Gucci’s ode to the upcoming Lunar New Year is definitely one of the more fun collections. Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele heralds the year of the ox with a dedicated collection comprised of a number of special items that feature “Doraemon”, the famous blue Japanese manga and anime character – a cat-robot. The Doraemon x Gucci collaboration also marks the manga character’s 50th anniversary.
In this special collection for men and women, you’ll see Doraemon in his classic blue colour over the GG motif on a different number of products and accessories. Versace’s Lunar New Year 2021 capsule collection focuses on the beauty and splendour of local traditions and sees vibrant and uplifting prints that showcase new interpretations of the brand’s Medusa motif to celebrate the ox. On looking at the collection, you can only hope that the year that lies ahead will be filled with parties, especially when you see the brand’s print of rolling Medusa discs in the shape of records, which remind the viewer of music and celebrations.
The discs come in two distinct colour palettes, the first being pastel shades of violet, baby blue, mint green and sunny yellow, and another in classic black and gold. The collection features sportwear-style separates including sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweatpants and outerwear, as well as a pleasant selection of gift ideas and accessories, such as handbags, foulards, bracelets and an exclusive version of Versce’s Ilus sneakers.
