Apple and Hermès enter into yet another season of collaborative creation and innovation with the new Apple Watch Hermès Series 6, which sports new colours, and a new design that draws from equestrian harnesses.
Every year, when Apple announces its big “gather-round” event, our inner smart-watch enthusiasts get particularly excited for the development of the Apple Watch. Still a considerable newbie in Apple’s extensive portfolio, the Apple Watch comes with a whole new scope of potential in terms of functionality and purpose, making it rather fascinating to see where Apple chooses to take it. And of course, among all the key updates, our eyes are constantly peeled to see the latest Apple Watch Hermès.
Hyper-luxury leather products and exquisite craftsmanship aside, a strong pillar of Hermès actually has ties to horology, illustrated by the maison’s various partnerships with some of the world’s greatest Swiss manufacturers over the years. A key driver behind some of the greatest timepieces to exist, it makes a lot of sense that Hermès — a name that has come to represent supreme quality and savoir-faire — would join hands with Apple, which stands for creating truly great and innovative products. The Apple Watch Hermès Series 6 marks the latest brainchild of this long-time collaboration, and brings to the scene a new season of creativity and advancement. From the a new palette of hues, to a new strap design, here’s everything we know and love.
Bright & Bold New Colours
Maintaining its repute as an artisan of colour, Hermès has imagined a striking new palette of shades for the Apple Watch Hermès Series 6. The single toru straps now come in a variety of bright, vibrant hues, that range from piment, to orange, bambou, navy, and anémone — shades that truly redefine the iconic product.
A New Strap Design
Before we get into detail about the new strap design, here’s a bit of background. Hermès watch-straps are arguably some of the best watch straps in the scene, unrivalled due to a combination of elements — from the softness of the leather, to the exquisite stitch quality. They’re also hard to come by, and difficult to buy individually, as many flagships prioritise selling these hand-made treasures to loyal Hermès watch clientele.
Applying the maison’s deeply-rooted know-how, the newly-unveiled strap for this season’s Apple Watch Hermès is the Hermès Attelage, a name which references equestrian harnesses as a nod to the house’s heritage. The strap itself has been redesigned, so that its attachment extends above the case. Playing with proportion — a common element of Hermès’ watch straps, which often have irregular dimensions — the strap reveals the Hermès double tour extra-slim, or single tour straps in fauve Barénia calfskin, giving the object a flair of uniqueness.
