Patek Philippe celebrates the completion of its new production building with its first watch of 2020. The tribute model is the 1,000-piece limited-edition Ref. 6007A Calatrava.
A Patek Philippe tradition to mark major corporate milestones with the launch of limited-edition commemorative timepieces, the manufacture created the Ref. 6007A Calatrava to celebrate the completion of a 10-storey production building – that will house all of its ateliers – in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva.
The handsome 40mm grey-blue model instantly stands out with its case and broad cambered bezel in polished steel, a material that is rarely used in the maison’s timepieces. Collectors will appreciate various elements that add to the dynamic dial design: the railway track scale in the hour circle, baton hands for the hours and minutes that recall the Ref. 6006 Calatrava, and the integration of the self-winding calibre 324 S C movement with an aperture date at 3 o’clock.
The dial centre features a carbon-style texture that plays with light, while the sapphire crystal caseback is marked with a Calatrava cross and the inscription, “New Manufacture 2019”. Another special feature is the calfskin strap in a matching blue hue with white decorative seams, prong buckle, and a delicately embossed pattern that recalls textile fabrics as well as the motif of the dial centre.
