As part of its ‘Around the World’ series, Patek Philippe hosted an exclusive event in Bangkok, taking long standing clients on a journey through the history of world time, and travel time watches.
Celebrating the rich history behind Patek Philippe’s timepieces, the watchmaker invited media insiders, clients, and watchmaking enthusiasts to explore the brands’ latest collection and long-standing legacy, through an exclusive event themed ‘Le Voyage’. Designed to take visitors on a journey through multiple time zones, the event paid tribute to the iconic references of Siamese travel, and featured a wide range of multimedia tools for a truly immersive experience.
The Theme: Le Voyage
Nodding to Patek Philipe’s reputation for some of the most complicated watches on the market, the event put two new complications at the forefront, both of which have been carefully designed for globe-trotters. On the one hand, you have the World Time, which is able to display 24 different time zones simultaneously through two rotating disks. The Travel Time system, on the other hand, features an additional central hour hand — pusher-adjustable, of course — which indicates a secondary time zone.
Both these complications take center stage in Patek Philippe’s latest collection, which was exhibited in Bangkok’s buzzy Four Seasons Hotel from January 18 to 21. Throughout the period, over 500 guests gathered in small groups at the venue, to explore the entire collection and more.
The Event: An Exhibition of Time & Travel
Upon entering, guests were welcomed by a striking map of old Siam, from which they were taken through a breathtaking journey of travel across the kingdom. Designed to resemble a train journey through the ages, areas were beautifully decorated, and the venue was split into seven exhibition suites, all of which served to highlight various milestones in how travel has developed over the years. Featuring a combination of videos, images and multimedia, each exhibition room came complemented with historical timepieces from the Patek Philippe museum, providing a fascinating experience for avid watch enthusiasts.
Finally, at the very end of the ‘Le Voyage’ journey, guests were led into a postcard room dominated by previously unpublished films from the Manufacturer’s archive. These highlighted the travels of the Stern family — some of which date back to the early 1930s. As a fun, final touch, guests even had the option of creating their own vintage-inspired travel postcards and stamps to fit with the theme, through a special Augmented Reality Instagram filter created for the event.
