We checked into Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse over the weekend, making full use of their ‘Happiness Continues’ staycation package.
Covid-19 may have taken its toll on tourism all across the globe, but thankfully, a fabulous holiday isn’t that far off the cards. Thankfully, our local five-starred establishments are making their steady return, doling out eye-catching staycation deals to cater to those of us who’re craving getaways, but must for now remain home-bound. Over the weekend, we decided to try out one of the best packages on offer — checking out the ‘Happiness Continues’ staycation deal at Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse.
Offering a proper respite for urban dwellers, the staycation package caters to everyone, from individuals, to love-birds, best friends, and families alike, with two varying options. THB5,000++ gets you a one night stay at the spacious M Suite, that fits two guests, while a 2-Bedroom Residential Suite, which fits four members, comes priced at THB6,000++ per night. The package also comes complete with complimentary daily breakfast at Phraya Kitchen, and access to the M Club lounge. Interested? Here’s the weekend itinerary we recommend.

But first, breakfast! Start your day at Phraya Kitchen.
Early risers (or late-risers, since breakfast runs till 11am on weekends) can kick-start the day with unlimited servings of Thai and International plates at Phraya Kitchen. If you’re anything like us, hotel breakfasts play a big part in your overall holiday experience, and on this front, Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse does not disappoint. On the menu, expect an exciting selection of eggy-signatures, ranging from the customary omelette, to more locally-inspired options like pan-fried eggs with minced pork, and Chinese sausages. These are joined by heartier dishes such as congee, salmon teriyaki on rice, and even boat noodles with pork. If you prefer to start your day sweet, opt for their range of desserts, which go from waffles, to pancakes and French bread. Of course, you can also just go for classic oatmeal, or check out the juices, cheeses and more in the mini buffet line.
Breakfast is available from 6 – 10:30am on Monday – Friday, and 6 – 11am on weekends.

Poolside bliss. Go for a swim in the area’s most Instagrammable pool.
You haven’t really been to Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, if you don’t have a picture by the pool. Located on the 18th floor, the infinity pool offers both a breezy respite for those looking to unwind with a bit of swimming, and front-row views of Bangkok’s city vistas. Arguably the most Instagrammable spots in the neighbourhood are the billowy beach cabanas. With two of them by the poolside, they’re flanked by a pretty stunning backdrop of skyscrapers and highrises — a reminder that you’re truly at the center of it all. Of course, if you’re looking to really get in your daily cardio, there’s also a fully-equipped fitness center that’s open 24 hours daily.

Dim sum for lunch. Check out Yào Restaurant on the 32nd floor.
Few things satisfy those post-fitness hunger pangs like a really good lunch, and on that front, Yào Restaurant has you covered. Bright, airy, and defined by chic modern-Chinese decor, food here is primarily Cantonese and Shanghai-inspired, with a vast selection that ranges from a la carte options, to dim sum staples, set menus and more. We highly recommend the crispy pork with wasabi hoisin sauce — perfectly-cut squares of rich, succulent fatty pork belly. Dim sum-wise, the game here is on point. Be sure not to miss out on the Shanghai style juicy pork buns, or the Haw Gao filled with foie gras and shrimp. Vegetarian guests can also enjoy signatures such as the flower-shaped bean curd with morel mushroom soup, where soft tofu is intricately sliced to bloom chrysanthemum.
Lunch runs from 12 – 2:30pm daily.

For sweet-toothed guests. Continue with a Chinese-Inspired afternoon tea set.
Of course, since you’ve got time on your hands, why not relax and make the most of the views, by staying on for Yào Restaurant’s Chinese Afternoon Tea? A wholly unique tea experience, the entire set offers a selection of delectable pastries and dim sum bites, complemented by a selection of flower teas. We especially loved te German Rose Tea, though options include Easter Lily, Taiwan Lotus, and Himalayan Jasmine.
Available on Saturday and Sunday, 2:30 – 5pm.
#WFH — just for a bit. Check into the M Club for productivity (and free-flow drinks).
While we’re definitely here to unwind, it doesn’t hurt to get a little productivity Among the most exciting perks of the hotel’s ‘Happiness Continues’ staycation package is complimentary access to the exclusive M Club, which you’ll find on the 31st floor. Offering free-flow coffee, tea, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day, private seating areas and panoramic windows offer the ideal spot to get stuff done. There’s also an outdoor area, and those staying under the special package can enjoy two hours of meeting room usage per day as well. The best part? M Club offers free-flow evening cocktails — along with wines and bubbly — daily from 5 – 7:30pm, offering the perfect pre-drinks spot before you end your night at the hotel’s rooftop.
Open daily from 6am – 9pm.

Dinner with a view. End your evening with food and drinks at Yào Rooftop Bar.
The perfect spot to end your day, Yào Rooftop Bar offers a wholly different ambiance from the restaurant below. Proving that you can enjoy a five-starred rooftop experience, and hearty servings of great food that goes far beyond barbites, here you’ll find everything from great cocktails, to unbeatable views and midnight dim sum that’s really, really good.
