With children’s day coming up this weekend, you might want to start making plans with your babykins — and really, what better way to spend your weekend than taking your tot out for Sunday Brunch?Brunch really is the most important meal of the day, which naturally makes Sunday brunch the most important meal of the week – wouldn’t you agree? Finding the right place with a charming atmosphere, mouth-watering dishes, fabulous facilities, and the right kind of champagne is a task in itself… but with a baby, it’s a whole different story!
You really have to be selective in finding that sweet spot that will keep your baby calm, happy and even smiling from ear to ear. Now if your little one is a true Prestige Petite, he or she is naturally the boss; and when the baby’s happy, then the rest of the family will follow suit. So, consider these child- friendly venues when you start planning your next Sunday brunch avec le bebé.
Trader Vic’s

A gorgeous family-friendly venue on the river, Trader Vic’s, at the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, also makes for a perfect day out if you decide to head there by boat (the Anantara free shuttle from Saphan Thaksin pier runs all day). Enjoy an authentic Polynesian spread, Benihana’s classic sushi and sashimi delights, and other exotic world flavours from the buffet, or satisfy your Sunday cravings with made-to-order specials or prime cuts pan-fried before your very eyes. Mummy could also get away with having a Mai Tai or two – Trader Vic’s signature drink – or perhaps one of the restaurant’s infamous Tiki cocktails. Choose to sit either outside on the waterfront terrace overlooking the River of Kings, or inside where you can enjoy a live band and let the little ones play in the special kid’s area.

Colonnade

Aptly dubbed ‘The Mother of all Sunday Brunches’ (it really is!), it comes as little surprise that we would recommend The Sukhothai Bangkok’s Sunday Brunch at the Colonnade restaurant to Prestige mummies and their little babies and young ones. The hotel grounds make it a wonderful place to take the children on their day out with the parents, and the hotel of course, places prime importance on the welfare of young children. At the buffet, mummy and daddy will be able to choose from a vast selection of seafood and lobster, Japanese specialities, farmhouse cheeses, and live cooking stations featuring delectable meats and the carnivorous works. Kids, meanwhile, will be entertained by a “cooking theatre”, a two-round show from the chef team giving budding foodies and chefs ample opportunity to fire away questions. Baby might fall asleep to the comforting voice of the hotel’s live jazz singer or, perhaps, begin to develop a musical ear. Children of all ages will adore Pastry Chef Laurent Ganguillet’s desserts, such as Minute Tiramisu and Crepes Suzette, and be sure to get the petite to interrogate him on his vast knowledge of chocolate.

Niche

Whilst Brasserie Europa is being renovated, Sunday Brunch at the Siam Kempinksi Hotel has moved to Niche; our personal favourite as it overlooks the green gardens of the hotel and is just as good – potentially even better – for a family-friendly sit-down. Whether you’re outside breathing fresher air than the rest of Bangkok and listening to the sound of birds chirping and water splashing, or inside taking in the smell of fresh coffee and freshly baked goods, you’ll be happy. Adults will enjoy the delicious spread of seafood, oysters, European fare, a Japanese corner, and much more, while the children’s eyes will naturally gravitate towards the dessert section, which never falls short of amazing us. From black and white-themed desserts, to macaroons and cupcakes and a white chocolate fountain, there’s plenty for your sweet-toothed little angels to savour (perhaps not for the baby though). Older kids can also enjoy hanging out in the kid’s club facilities, looked after by well-trained staff, while the adults enjoy a nice relaxed Sunday afternoon.

Roast @ The Commons

The Commons is generally a lovely place to spend on a Sunday, what with its quality mix of indoor eateries and outdoor artisanal shops, not to mention seating areas surrounded by lush greenery. Now you might not be looking at the buffet style brunch spread you’d get dining at hotels, but the majority of the menu at Roast is brunch-inspired (American, European and Thai) and the restaurant has lately become well-known for its trendy brunch culture. There is also a kid’s menu to choose from for smaller-sized bites that taste just as good. Although not operating classes on a Sunday, located just below Roast is Little Pea, a play yard where kids can connect and enjoy multisensory play in a fun way. The entire family could also potentially get involved in learning how to plant some herbs or even how to make the perfect pancake. Anything is possible!
Brunch and à la carte dishes are served until 4pm every day. Baby chairs provided. Official Facebook Page.
Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Deli

If you want the traditional brunch buffet spread at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences, head upstairs to Nimitr – but we do warn you that upstairs won’t be as child-friendly as the hotel’s Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Deli. The delightful atmosphere of the latter makes it a perfect place to spend a Sunday with the kids, and even baby. Granted, the dishes here are à la carte, but they’re still brunch-inspired and mummy and daddy will be happy because baby will be happy. This chic bistro and deli has indoor and outdoor seating options designed to foster moments of connection, creating happy new family memories.
