Food enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to, as Bangkok gets ready to welcome some of the world’s best chefs this September. Following its success over the past two decades, the World Gourmet Festival — aka Bangkok’s oldest international culinary spectacle — is set to return for the 20th time, bringing with it a star-studded line-up of culinary talents to Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel.
A tribute to Bangkok’s vibrant and renowned street food culture, the event gathers sixteen acclaimed chefs from nine countries for a series of gastronomic feasts from September 2 – 8, 2019. Hailing from France, Japan, Spain and more, the chefs will each host two dinners in the hotel’s various award-winning restaurants, including some of our favourite venues Biscotti, Madison, Spice Market and Shintaro. From what’s new this year, to the event agenda, here’s everything you need to know about the 20th World Gourmet Festival.
Bangkok’s Street Food Scene Will Get a Shoutout This Year
For the first time ever, the 20th World Gourmet Festival will showcase our enviable street food scene on September 5, 2019, inviting Bangkok’s most popular street vendors to serve their road-side delights around the Parichart open-air garden courtyard.
Regulars at the World Gourmet Festival will also be pleased to know that the festival’s various exclusive fringe events — which have, over the years, become crowd pleasers — will also make their return in the hotel’s lobby and Aqua Bar. We’re personally marking our schedules for the hugely popular World Gourmet Brunch on September 8, 2019.
There will be Master Cooking Classes
If your love for food extends to beyond just eating, here’s some good news. At the festival, budding and professional chefs will have the opportunity to attend master cooking classes by all the visiting chefs. Participants will get a rare chance to see and taste dishes that have been especially prepared for the World Gourmet Festival menu repertoire. There’s more. Joining the already pretty stellar line-up of leading chefs this year is globally-renowned Dutch chef Roger van Damme, who was awarded the best pastry chef at the Best Chef Awards in 2017. Aspiring bakers and lovers of pastries should be sure not to miss his master classes — where he’ll be presenting four desserts — on September 5 and 6, 2019.

Event Proceeds Go to the Greater Good
What could be better than indulging yourself… for the good of society? This year’s World Gourmet Festival proudly supports the HRH Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen Suddhanarinatha HIV Prevention Fund, meaning a portion of profits from the dinner tickets, as well as proceeds from the festival’s various auctions, will be donated to the fund.
There’s a Hotel Promotion Involved
Currently, there’s an early bird promotion that saves you 20% of ticket fares for bookings before July 31. However, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel has also launched a special Amazing World Gourmet Festival accommodation package, offering avid gourmands a wholly inclusive experience. Starting at THB18,000 per room per night, the special offer comes with accommodation, a daily breakfast buffet, and a table for two at a guest chef’s dinner for each night of the stay period.
