For the sophisticated residents of Bangkok, a Valentine’s Date isn’t a Valentine’s Date without the glittering view of the majestic Chao Phraya river. With blossoming fine-dining venues and riverside hotel restaurants, it’s not difficult to get a perfect dining spot for this special night. But if what you’re looking for is something by the living culinary legend — something by the first chef in the world to ever have three restaurants awarded with 3 Michelin stars at the same time — go no further than his latest establishment Blue by Alain Ducasse at Iconsiam.
The seasonal offering, the Valentine’s Day Menu at Blue by Alain Ducasse, is a perfectly choreographed set of 6-course menu that would make the dining session of your Valentine’s Date all the more memorable. Duck Foie Gras Royale, hazelnut warms our palate with the richness of the two key ingredients, balanced out by the foamy textures and savoury aroma. The salad dish, Lobster and Black Truffle Salad, offers the most sumptuous mix of textures — the crunchy softness of perfectly-cooked lobster with fruits and vegetables sliced in tiny little sticks combined into a heavenly munch. Next up is Fillet of Sea Bass, Gold Caviar, for which we indulge in the softness of the meat and the flavourful complexity of the caviar sauce. The main dish is Lamb Two Ways, Anna Potatoes, Tamarind Condiment, which feels minimal in its look, and yet maximal in its mix of flavours and textures. The tamarind condiment and the crispiness of Anna potatoes put a satisfying twist into the lamb’s unique taste.
Now that the main course is done, it’s time for the two true stars of the Valentine’s Menu — the Rose Coconut and signature chocolate. You refresh your palate with the citrusy and sweet sorbet and jelly before dipping into the middle of the heart-shaped chocolate with pink mousse and berry filling — so sumptuous you want to slowly savour them the way your savour the romantic moments of your Valentine’s night.
