In recent years, Bangkok has seen an influx of exciting new restaurants as the local gastronomy scene experiences a rapid expansion. While diners have a lot to look forward to from the richly diverse gourmet options, “in with the new” also means some of the old gets left behind. In an effort to remember the near-forgotten recipes of our past, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel brings back long-lost Thai recipes with a new dinner buffet line at Flavors.
Especially curated by Iron chef challenger Jack, the buffet line harks back to delectable traditional Thai recipes and local ingredients. Expect highlights such as the tasteful saeng wa — a broiled shrimp salad with a rich Thai herbal sauce. Kao tang yam nua, features the delightful Thai rice cracker snack served with pork crackers and cured beef. For something more filling, try the ho mok poo with nam prik, where steamed crab paste is served in banana leaves, complemented by grilled eggplant dipping. If you thought yum wun sen was your local favourite, here’s something you might want to try — yum dok mai, Thai flower salad, complete with pickled relish.
Lovers of Thai gaeng and curries can indulge in a serving of gang look kluay, an interesting green banana curry with rambutan. Pla haeng tang mo gives you a crispy fish salad, served in watermelon compressed with mint and cinnamon.
An unforgettable fine-dining experience unlike any other, Flavor’s new buffet line takes you on a delicious adventure into the history of Thai cuisine at the heart of Bangkok City.
