Yvonne Chua commandeered Regent Singapore’s Tanglin room and had it completely transformed for a lavish tank-themed birthday for her son, Isaiah Goh. Camouflage webbing curtains and graffiti walls set the scene, reinforced with ornamental helmets and rifles placed strategically around the room. As the kids joined Isaiah in activities like tank-building and battle games, the adults – glasses of Krug or Chilean wine in hand – conquered the sumptuous international buffet by the hotel’s Basilico restaurant, with dishes reflecting army motifs for good measure. The tank-shaped cake ensured that the birthday bash ended with a bang, and young guests left with door gifts of either toy tanks, remote-control cars, tank lunch boxes, tank pencil cases or tank puzzles. The adults, meanwhile, went home with camouflage caps.
