From spas to sales, here’s how you can support breast cancer awareness for Pink October

We all know a loved one, or that of a loved one, who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. With the birth of ‘Pink October’, companies and organisations around the globe collectively pledge their efforts to raise awareness for the cancer, and as consumers we’ve got a vital role to play too. All month long, we can contribute even in the tiniest ways without even realising it with proceeds from various products, meals, and services dedicated to related charities around the world. Here’s how you can help:

Catch up with the girls over cranberry and rose scones, available for a limited time only. Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur’s Executive Pastry Chef Antony Hoyle and his team of talented cooks have created a special afternoon tea selection of savouries and sweets, with a glass of Taittinger rose champagne to wash it all down. Other bites include the frosted berliner with vanilla custard, chicken tikka with spice toast bread, and roasted beef cannelloni stuffed with truffle eggplant caviar.10% of proceeds will be donated to the Pink Ribbon Wellness Foundation.

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur has organised a number of promotions for Pink October, including its own “Pretty in Pink” afternoon tea special at The Lounge, two new pink cocktails at Bar Trigona, and our favourite: a spa day. It begins with a welcome drink, foot soak, Himalaya energising scrub and express back massage — needless to say, everything is in pink.

Every year, the holy grail hair styling tools brand that is ghd lends their support to Pink October with a collection and to that, the effort has helped to raise over USD 15 million for breast cancer charities globally. Also in conjunction with the collection’s 15th anniversary, Ghd worked with Chicago-based tattoo artist David Allen to create an original design based on his acclaimed work in concealing mastectomy scars. This very meaningful design will b will be featured on the award-winning ghd Platinum+ and ghd Gold stylers.

The pink collection is available at Sephora Malaysia and selected hair salons.

Pink Afternoon Tea at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Shangri-La Hotel is collaborating with renowned local jewellery brand, Bowerhaus, for a special afternoon tea that comes with a gift: a personalised Clover of Hope Pink Brooch. The hotel will donate MYR 20 from each set of the Pink Afternoon Tea to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).
