Amelia Gozali

Retailing and the hospitality industry are in 31-year-old Amelia Gozali’s blood. “My family has been active in the Indonesian retail and hospitality industries for over 30 years, so they are second nature to me,” she says. Born in Singapore, she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing with honours from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 2006.

In 2008, she launched the Miniapolis children’s playground at Plaza Indonesia. Since 2010, she has been COO of FX Sudirman and Vice President Commissioner of Indonesian Paradise Properties. In 2014, she started a management company, POP Property Indonesia, which manages Beachwalk Bali, Park23 Tuban and the upcoming 23Paskal in Bandung.

“One of the most influential people in my life is my father (Boyke Gozali, a co-founder of Plaza Indonesia),” says Amelia. “He has taught me everything that I know, not only as a professional but also as a person. His contagious passion towards his craft propels him to always go the extra mile in everything that he does. His teachings on the importance of character and integrity are legacies that I hope to always upheld in both my career and personal life.

“As an entrepreneur or a professional, it is very important that you find your vocation. I feel that’s the key difference that gives me both the drive and the inner strength to go the extra mile each day. The second quality is grit. Once you’ve found your vocation, it won’t always be rainbows and butterflies. There will always be competition, obstacles and challenges. Those times are the true test for any entrepreneur to persevere and come out on the other side a better person.”
