Georgetta Sukamto

“I grew up in a family who appreciate food, and eating is one of the leisure activities that we like to do,” says Georgetta Preciosa Sukamto, the 26-year-old entrepreneur behind Paton and Preciosa Catering Company and The Playground at Pondok Indah Mall. “We basically live to eat, so food has always been a part of my life. On top of that, I love to bake and I’m very passionate about cakes and pastries. These factors motivated me to be where I am right now.”

Georgetta has a Bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Monash University, Melbourne and has taken workshop courses at Le Cordon Bleu, San Francisco and San Francisco Cooking School. “After graduating, I opened my own business, including an online bakery,” she says. “I bake and decorate everything myself. We also do catering for events, providing everything from light bites and appetisers to carvings like roast beef, beef Wellington and salmon en croute. “My dad is my mentor. Even though he’s in a different industry, his willingness to help me and his hardworking spirit have always guided me to become a better person. He keeps on telling me that when you do something, you have to do it with 100 percent commitment. Self-confidence and selfdiscipline are essential for any entrepreneur to succeed, and you must be passionate about what you do. I think the definition of success varies for each individual. For me, success is accomplished when you are actually happy and satisfied with the life that you are having. It doesn’t have to be in any specific form, as long as it makes you lighthearted.”
