Aiming to provide an alternative place to relax in Jakarta, Mikael Mirdad and his business partners Freggy Yohanes and Agung Prayudi opened Beer Garden in Kemang in 2013. Their Biko Group has gone on to launch many more F&B ventures such as Pao Pao, Fujin, Lola, Pippo, Beer Hall, Mother Monster and Duck Down Bar.

“I was inspired by the first-world experience,” Mirdad says. “People have the time of their lives, creating great moments while enjoying good vibes. Biko aims to set a new standard for casual lifestyle dining here by offering impeccable service, great menus, fine drinks, superb vibes – all with award-winning design and architectural flair.”

The holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from University of Technology Sydney, Mirdad says of his start in business: “I just jumped in and learned from my mistakes. You have to really love what you do – not just love it, but be obsessed with it.”
