Miranda Waliry

For Miranda Waliry, making fashion her career choice came naturally. “I really didn’t choose fashion,” she laughs. “We crossed paths, and we clicked. Now, I want to do more and explore more as I learn new things every day. It’s exciting and I am very passionate about it. It’s like meeting a soulmate.”

Miranda is Marketing and Merchandising Director of Rococo Indonesia, which has a total of 10 stores in Jakarta and Bali. She learned about the fashion retail business from her husband Rano Nasution, the founder of Rococo. “He’s a very knowledgeable person,” she says. “He has encouraged me and pushed me beyond what I thought were my limits as a business person. I’m also inspired by my mother-in-law. She is a very hardworking woman. Her energy puts me to shame! I believe that people who work hard, are persistent and humble, and who always look at things on the positive side are the ones who are most likely to succeed.”

Miranda’s idea of success is making her vision come true. “It comes in small steps,” she says. “For example, when I see that my customers appreciate what products we have put in our stores, that gives me immense satisfaction. There are times when they tell me they love the collections we have put together. To me, that’s very gratifying. Of course, on top of success in business, my goal is to see my children grow and become successful people contributing to the world. That would be the real success for me in being a mother.”
