After making his fortune through budget hotels and residential properties in Singapore, Koh, whose estimated net worth is US$1.07 billion, has set his sights on Australia. He is believed to have paid A$5.5 million for an island off Tasmania, and may use it as a private retreat before developing an eco-tourism project there. His Fragrance Group owns seven properties in Hobart, Melbourne and Perth, including Premier Tower, a 78-storey skyscraper in Melbourne. Another high-rise project on Melbourne’s Collins Street is in the works.
