The World Cup Russia 2018 is here! One of the most prominent and popular international football match today has partnered once again with Louis Vuitton. Celebrating the kick-off of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia in June, the house has three special projects; Louis Vuitton’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Official Licensed Product Collection, FIFA World Cup Trophy Travel Case, and FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball Collection Trunk!
As the one who has invented a genuine “Art of Travel” through luggage, bags and accessories, the House has made its signature leather goods to be as elegant and practical as it can be. The three projects have thoughtful details that purposefully represent both legacies of the House and FIFA.
Louis Vuitton’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Official Licensed Product Collection
Since 2010, Louis Vuitton provides a travel case for one of the world’s most sought-after, legendary trophies of the world: the FIFA World Cup Trophy. For 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Louis Vuitton’s relationship with FIFA World Cup has grown to encompass a new leather goods collection: the Louis Vuitton 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Official Licensed Product Collection. The capsule collection will showcase unique versions of Keepall and Apollo bags and a selection of small leather goods:
1. Made with the House’s iconic Epi leather first introduced in the 1920s, most of the styles will be proposed in three colour combinations. The hexagon design is created using a three-stage embossing procedure that is both innovative and based upon the House’s historic savoir-faire, allowing each coloured hexagon to have a richly textured feel, reminiscent of classic footballs.
2. For a more exclusive version, a “Made-To-Order” Keepall is proposed in a rich palette of eight pentagon colours. Each of them can be associated with one of the five colours of trimmings to create a Keepall in the colours of almost any national flag. Completing this sophisticated offer, an Epi leather luggage tag could be embossed with one of 35 national flags, including the nations taking part in the competition.
The Louis Vuitton 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Official Licensed Product Collection will be available from June 14 until July 15, 2018 in selected Louis Vuitton stores and online.
FIFA World Cup Trophy Travel Case
Since 2010, Louis Vuitton has been trusted to create the Trophy Travel Case so the trophy can be safely transported and displayed. This year, it is made with a titanium-covered, special-order case designed and handmade at the House’s workshops in Asnières, France.
The House’s workshop in Asnières has produced a range of designs, from a foldout trunk-bed for 19th-century explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza to a library and typewriter trunk for Ernest Hemingway, or a portable tea-service trunk for the Maharajah of Baroda. The workshop continues to produce around 450 special orders every year; the FIFA World Cup Trophy Travel Case can be added to its list of masterpieces.
FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball Collection Trunk
Louis Vuitton has made yet another trunk, this time it’s for the match balls! Worked together with Adidas, it has created a unique limited-edition trunk based on Louis Vuitton’s classic wardrobe trunk.
Handmade in the workshops at Asnières, the new trunk is covered in Monogram canvas and has traditional brass corners and lock. Once opened, however, it reveals its surprising contents of 14 footballs: 13 specially made reeditions of all the Official Adidas Match Balls used at the FIFA World Cup – from the original, iconic Telstar first made in 1970 to this year’s Official Match Ball – each displayed on a shelf made of beech wood and with descriptive tags in Louis Vuitton’s trademark natural cowhide leather. An additional Louis Vuitton football made in natural cowhide leather will accompany the collection. It is only the second football ever made by Louis Vuitton. The ball will also be available to purchase separately.
Louis Vuitton supports Naked Heart Foundation
The week of the final match, during a Naked Heart Foundation gala dinner in Moscow, one unique FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball Collection Trunk will be sold at a silent auction to benefit the Naked Heart Foundation. Each of the 13 Official Match Balls in this remarkable trunk will be signed by a football legend, and the 2018 Match Ball will be an official Telstar 18, played on the field during the 2018 World Cup final itself.
The Naked Heart Foundation was created in 2004 by model and campaigner Natalia Vodianova “to ensure that every child in Russia has a lovely family, and a safe and stimulating place to play”. The charity now works in Russia, the UK and Peru building playgrounds and helping disabled children and their families.
